Late at night, the reporter interviewed the designer of zero-carbon park. What is "zero carbon"? Is to return nature to nature.

Shenzhen News Network March 26, 2024(Shenzhen Evening News reporter Su Jingju) Recently, the zero-carbon park in Longgang, Shenzhen was listed in the CCTV special program "Chatting" as a case of green and low-carbon development. On March 13th, this newspaper published a report "Because of a" zero ",this park was praised by CCTV", which aroused widespread concern. On March 22nd, the reporter interviewed Zhu Jie, the designer of Zero Carbon Park, and listened to him tell the story behind this "zero".
Zhu Jie is currently the director and chief landscape architect of Opal Design Company. In Shenzhen, he and his team also participated in the design of the Shenzhen Talent Park and the airborne roaming system of Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base.
? 1 Take a walk in the park.
"Zero carbon" can be intuitively understood.
In the CCTV program "Chatting", guests commented on the practice of low-carbon concept in zero-carbon park, mainly involving five aspects: (1) there is no disturbance to the original terrain; Recycling of materials; Rainwater recovery; Children’s unpowered facilities; Collection and use of new energy.
Zhu Jie was very excited about the presentation of the program group. He said: "The program has captured our core design concept very keenly. In fact, this is what we hope to achieve: we can understand’ zero carbon’ intuitively by walking in the park."
Zhu Jie said that the starting point of park design is to protect every natural element of the site: one grass, one tree, one stone and one water. The "starting point" of zero-carbon park is two hills and a valley. Although there are no particularly outstanding natural conditions, it is better than nature and primitive. Take the rammed earth wall at the main entrance of the park as an example, the building materials used are taken from the original soil, and then treated with low-carbon technology, and constructed by traditional rammed earth technology. In addition, in the construction of the park, the dead wood and stones in the mountains are recycled to make benches and steps; Collect rainwater to form an interactive waterscape; Collect the concrete fragments that broke the original building in the construction process and re-pave the pavement. By adopting low-carbon technologies including a large number of photovoltaic power generation and wind energy utilization, Zhujie team hopes that everyone who comes to Zero Carbon Park can feel low carbon everywhere, gradually develop a low-carbon green lifestyle in a subtle way, and promote the ecological concept of "returning nature to nature" in the lightest way.
In 2022, the Zero Carbon Park was completed and opened to the public, and soon it became the punching point of online celebrity in Longgang and even Shenzhen. In 2023, Zero Carbon Park was awarded the ecological contribution award (the first prize) of the 2023 LA Landscape Architecture Award. Industry experts commented that the scheme takes "low carbon" as the theme, adopts a low-intervention and low-impact design strategy, and pays attention to the low-carbon concept in the whole life cycle, including retention, recycling, reuse, operation and maintenance. For example, the application of recycled materials in the design of trails and pavilions has certain demonstration and public education value; In terms of ecology, ecological restoration and ecosystem services are combined to form a more comprehensive urban ecological value.
Starting from the daily life of citizens
Design a low-carbon popular science research path
During the field experience in the Zero Carbon Park, the hiking trail composed of hand-made trails left a deep impression on the late-night reporter.
Zhu Jie introduced that the mountaineering path in the park is basically based on the original mountain road. The team used a lot of stone materials and fallen trees in the mountain forest to build hand-made trails by manpower. This way has the characteristics of low facilities and low impact, and it can take local materials nearby, adjust measures to local conditions, and minimize the impact on mountain animals and plants and soil environment. For different road sections, the team also laid gravel on the roadside to build a "drainage ditch", and at the same time played the role of dealing with height difference and energy dissipation to prevent soil erosion.
At the beginning of the design, Zhu Jie’s team imagined the scene of citizens visiting the park in the future. He said: "Back to life itself, we are committed to starting from the daily life of the citizens, so that everyone likes it here and falls in love with life in the mountains, lawns, streams and trees. There is sunshine, shade and breeze here. You can play with water, catch tadpoles, observe insects and birds, climb mountains and overlook, and camp under trees. We hope that this piece of Shan Ye will become a part of citizens’ lives and become a beautiful life for everyone. "
From OCT, to the talent park, to the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters, to the Zero Carbon Park … Following the service projects, Zhu Jie’s team traveled all over the city. While trying to convey the low-carbon concept through one project after another, Zhu Jie is also pleased to see that after years of development, low-carbon communities, low-carbon parks and low-carbon campuses are constantly emerging throughout Shenzhen, and the long-standing low-carbon concept has quietly become a common practice in Pengcheng and achieved fruitful results.
