As of press time, the local authorities have not received any reports of casualties and property losses.

  This is the third earthquake of magnitude 4.0 or above in Xingwen County in two days. At 12: 08 on May 3, an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred in Xingwen County with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. At 13: 04 on May 3, an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred in Xingwen County with a focal depth of 8 kilometers.

  According to the catalogue of China Seismic Network Express, there have been 286 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or above within 200 kilometers around the epicentre of Xingwen earthquake with magnitude 4.9 in recent five years. The largest earthquakes were the magnitude 6.0 earthquake in Luxian County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province on September 16, 2021 and the magnitude 6.0 earthquake in Changning County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province on June 17, 2019.
