Lanzhou, May 12 (Reporter Dong Hongliang, Wang Jintao) On May 11, the the State Council Earthquake Relief Headquarters Office, the Emergency Management Department and the Gansu Provincial People’s Government jointly held the "Emergency Mission 2022" earthquake relief exercise in the alpine plateau area.
The exercise simulated a large number of houses collapsed and casualties were caused by the earthquake of magnitude 7.5, and some roads, electricity, water supply, gas and communication in the disaster area were interrupted. The main exercise field was set up in Ganzhou District, Zhangye City, and sub-exercise fields were set up in Jiayuguan, Jiuquan, Jinchang and Wuwei. More than 5,000 people participated in the main battle. Including the national comprehensive fire rescue team, the People’s Liberation Army and the Armed Police Force and other emergency forces, using 9 large aircraft, as well as some railway, aviation and highway transport resources, command vehicles and rescue equipment and some small and medium-sized drones.
The exercise is divided into three stages: pull test, command exercise and comprehensive exercise. There are 18 major subjects and 41 specific exercise subjects. In terms of exercise subjects, in addition to the common contents in earthquake rescue, such as search and rescue of people buried in collapsed buildings, fire fighting and rescue of high-rise buildings, emergency repair of infrastructure, rescue and transportation of the wounded, resettlement of the affected people, etc., 26 practical exercise subjects were carried out in the field or by constructing simulation scenes in combination with the disaster characteristics in northwest China and the alpine environment in the plateau.
The exercise focused on improving the effectiveness of emergency command and rescue efforts, and promoting the ability of earthquake relief. In terms of the command system, the earthquake relief headquarters at the national, provincial, municipal and district levels, the Central Military Commission and the Western Theater Joint Operations Command Center responded synchronously, and the agencies coordinated and made concerted efforts to scientifically allocate and make overall use of emergency resources. All aspects of rescue forces were fully demonstrated, and water, land and air were used to rescue. All kinds of teams gave full play to their professional advantages and tempered their rescue capabilities.
